Clint Walker experienced a near-fatal skiing accident during May of 1971. While skiing with his daughter at Mammoth Mountain in California, an unfortunate fall caused Walker to piece his chest with his ski pole. The incident ultimately resulted in Walker needing open-heart surgery.

Walker's acting career stalled to some extent after his convalescence. Throughout the rest of the 1970s his primary acting roles consisted mainly of parts in made-for-TV films, such as "The Bounty Man," "Killdozer" and "Scream of the Wolf." The 1980s and 1990s saw Walker accept only the occasional movie role, such as performing voice work for the film "Small Soldiers." Clint Walker is retired from professional acting as of 2015.
