When did Dr. Seuss die?

Dr. Seuss, who was born Theodor Seuss Geisel, died on September 24, 1991. Geisel was an American author beloved for his famous children's stories, including "Oh! The Places You'll Go!," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Green Eggs and Ham." Many of his books have been made into both on-stage and big-picture productions.

Geisel was born in Massachusetts in 1904 and was a lifelong lover of books and rhyming. He was editor-in-chief of Dartmouth College's humor magazine while a student at the school, and he credited his mother for instilling in him a love of rhymes. He wrote 60 children's books in his lifetime.
