How did Elizabeth Cady Stanton die?

Elizabeth Cady Stanton died of congestive heart failure at her daughter Margaret's home in New York City. On October 26, 1902 she was confined to her bed in the afternoon and passed away in the evening.

In the months leading up to her death, she was ailing but not seriously ill, according to her obituary. She published two articles during the week leading up to her death. This early leader of the women's suffrage movement died eighteen years before women gained the right to vote. She was 86 years old and less than a month away from her 87th birthday.
