Why did "Flappy Bird" get deleted?

According to game creator Dong Nguyen, the popular game "Flappy Bird" was deleted because the creator could not handle the negative press and criticism he received. However, there is much speculation throughout the Internet that Nintendo pressured Nguyen to remove the game because of its similarity to "'Super Mario Bros."

Nguyen also stated that he felt the number of users that became addicted to playing the game became a problem. He felt that the game should be played for a few minutes, but that too many users were constantly playing it. Nguyen removed the game from all mobile app stores in February 2014.
