Where did the Franklin stove get its name?

The Franklin stove, originally known as the Pennsylvania Fireplace, is named after the inventor, Benjamin Franklin. The historical figure, known for work as a diplomat, writer, printer, political philosopher and scientist invented the stove, which is a cast-iron fireplace that incorporates metal baffles into the design to increase efficiency.

Benjamin Franklin originally invented the Franklin stove in 1741, but in 1772, inventor David Rittenhouse modernized the invention by adding an L-shaped chimney. The stove, also deemed a circulating stove, was invented with a design that produced less smoke and more heat than common open fireplaces during this time in history.
