Why did the Gallipoli Campaign fail?

The Gallipoli Campaign failed for many reasons, including the fact that the sea the warships traveled on was heavily guarded by the Turks and the land attack was not well-planned. This was because there were not accurate maps available of the area at the time and the attack was poorly directed, with the commander staying aboard a ship instead of going with his troops.
By staying aboard the ship, the commander had no idea what was actually happening with the battle and could not command the troops. The Gallipoli Campaign involved British and French forces with New Zealand and Australia forces against Turkey. It was a complete failure.
