Why did Guy Penrod take a sabbatical from Gaither Vocal Band?

Guy Penrod decided to take a sabbatical from the Gaither Vocal Band because he needed some much-deserved personal time and rest. He planned on spending the few weeks he took off from his music to enjoy time with his family and to recharge emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Guy Penrod sang and traveled full-time with his band mates since 1994. He is not only a tremendous voice and musical asset to the band, he is also a friend, husband and father, and his band mates expressed their wishes for Guy Penrod to have an enjoyable break. Guy Penrod was born in Abilene, Texas, and he grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico.
