India or Pakistan did not win either the men's or women's ICC World Twenty20 tournament in 2014. Sri Lanka defeated India in the men's final, while Australia defeated England in the women's final.

Batting second, Sri Lanka chased down India to win the championship by two runs with 13 balls to spare. Sri Lanka scored 132 runs for four wickets after India posted 130 for 4.

Australia won its third ICC Women's World Twenty20 tournament by four runs and four wickets. Australia recorded 109 runs for four wickets, while England was 105 for 8.

Sixteen men's and 10 women's teams competed in the World Twenty20 tournaments at three sites in Bangladesh during March and April 2014.
