Janet Paschal married John Lanier, an airline pilot, in 1999. Paschal is a Southern gospel music artist and writer. She is widely considered one of Christian music's top female vocalists.

Janet Paschal was raised in North Carolina in a deeply religious Christian family. Following her high school graduation, Paschal became a member of the Lefevres, a Southern gospel group. After the group split up, she became a member of Jimmy Swaggart's crusade team before pursuing a solo career in 1986. Paschal has released multiple albums and has been nominated for Grammy and Dove awards. In 2005, Paschal was diagnosed with breast cancer but was deemed cancer-free in 2012.
