John Goodman was awarded a re-trial after the jury's guilty verdict was overturned due to juror misconduct. For the re-trial, jury members were selected in Tampa and were isolated in their West Palm Beach hotel. Despite getting a re-trial, Goodman received the same 16-year prison sentence.
John Goodman, a polo mogul in Wellington, was charged with DUI manslaughter after he caused an accident that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Scott Patrick Wilson. The accident occurred in February 2010 when the allegedly drunk 51-year-old Goodman ran a stop sign. His Bentley slammed into Wilson’s car, pushing it into a canal and drowning Wilson.
