How did Merle Haggard die?

As of May, 2015, country legend Merle Haggard is still alive. Despite health issues ranging from clogged arteries to lung cancer, he is still living.

Merle Haggard was born in 1937 in Bakersfield, California. He served 2.5 years in San Quentin prison and over the course of his life, he's admitted to doing cocaine and is an avid marijuana smoker. His ex-wife died of Alzheimer's disease in 2006.

Haggard had an angioplasty procedure in 1995 and in 2008, the singer was diagnosed with lung cancer and had surgery to remove the small tumor on his lung. Today, Haggard continues touring and playing music for his fans.
