Paul Revere died of natural causes on May 10, 1818. He died at his home in Boston, Massachusetts, and his grave is located at the Granary Burying Ground on Tremont Street.
Paul Revere was a silversmith and a patriot in the American Revolution. He developed an alarm system to warn colonists of the movements of the advancing British military. The system used a single lantern placed in a steeple to warn of a land approach and two lanterns in a steeple to warn of a sea approach. The warning prompted Revere to lead a late night horseback ride to warn residents along his path that the British military was on the way.
