What did the Republic of Texas flag look like?

The last official flag of the Republic of Texas is the same state flag currently in use in 2015, and features one blue vertical stripe adjacent to a horizontal white stripe above a horizontal red stripe. A single five-pointed white star is in the center of the blue stripe.

Adopted by the Congress of the Republic of Texas in 1839, it served as the national flag for the republic until Texas gained statehood in 1845. This “lone-star” flag replaced one known as the Burnett flag, which Texas had adopted after it gained independence from Mexico in 1836, and it featured a gold or white star against a solid blue background. The Burnett flag continued to serve as a battle flag until 1879.
