When did Romanticism begin?

Romanticism as an artistic movement began around 1800 and lasted until the 1880s. However, the use of glorifying intangible elements is difficult to confine to only those years.
Romanticism found its roots in a turn-of-the-century world focused on literature, visual art and music. All art during this movement was open to personal interpretation and held a lasting effect on these mediums. From the early 1800s until around 1840, the movement was practiced by many renowned authors and artists, such as William Blake and Eugène Delacroix. Romanticism is characterized by what it stood against, with common themes including nature over industry, spiritualism over science, and democracy over subjugation.
