The Motown soul singer Tammi Terrell passed away at the age of 24 on March 16, 1970, due to complications from a malignant brain tumor. The same tumor caused Terrell to collapse while performing live at the Hampton-Sydney College in October 1967.
Prior to her death, Terrell was part of a duo with Marvin Gaye under Motown Records. Between April 1967 and April 1968, the duo released four love songs that became hits, including the song "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."
Terrell began her musical career at the age of 13 by performing as the opening act for various artists, such as Patti Labelle & the Bluebelles, in the Philadelphia area.
