When did Toyota stop making motor homes?

Toyota stopped making its motor homes in 1994, and the last model produced incorporated a Winnebago on the Toyota chassis. The first Toyota motor homes came out during the 1970s under the Chinook brand. They were much smaller and fit on the back of a Toyota Hilux compact pickup truck.
The problems began during the 1980s when Toyota extended the camper's length to nearly 22 feet, overloading the rear axle. People were also packing more in the larger vehicles, increasing the problem. Toyota recalled the affected Toyota motor homes for axle replacement. In 1989, Toyota introduced a V6 engine to deal with the lack of power issues.
