Many people who lived in Victorian times had clocks in their homes or at work. Clocks may not have been quite as widespread as today, but they were quite common during this era.
According to the BBC, the Victorians lived during the rule of Queen Victoria, between 1837 and 1901. The History of Watch website says the most rudimentary clock was invented more than 6,000 years earlier, and the spring driven clock was developed in the 1500s, so many clocks were in existence during Victorian times. In fact, VisitLondon.com reports that Big Ben, one of the world's most famous clocks was completed in 1859 — during the reign of Queen Victoria.
