What is the difference between a grantor and a grantee?
By Forinfos - 24/12/2025 - 0 comments
The grantor is the seller and the grantee is the buyer. In terms of selling a home, for example, the grantor is either the owner or the company extending the mortgage and the grantee is the person buying the home.
There are differences between the grantor and grantee, depending on the transaction or situation. When it comes to a court order, the grantor is the plaintiff and the grantee is the defendant. With an abstract judgment, the grantor is the judgment creditor and the grantee is the judgment debtor. With a quitclaim deed, the grantor is the transferer and the grantee is the transferee.
