While the terms "health" and "wellness" are often used as synonyms that complement each other, health refers to a physical state of being whereas wellness refers to the attitude a person has towards their health. For instance, while not being obese is healthy, you would take a positive step towards your wellness by making and meeting goals that prevent obesity.
The World Health Organization defines health as the "state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease of infirmity. While health and wellness are different concepts, wellness is directly correlated to health and and a positive attitude and often lead to an overall healthier state of being.
