A turnip is a root vegetable with a round, white root whereas a parsnip is a root vegetable that has the appearance of a cream-colored carrot. These vegetables can be prepared in similar ways.
Turnips have a mild flavor, are rich in vitamin C and can be prepared in multiple ways. Preparation methods include roasting, boiling, steaming or stir-frying, or they can be mashed up and served as an alternative to mashed potatoes.
Parsnips are also called parsley root. Like the turnip, parsnips have a mild flavor. They can be roasted with a drizzle of olive oil and salt and pepper for a delicious side dish.
