The different branches of engineering include chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Each engineering branch is further subdivided into subdisciplines that have major specialities.
Chemical engineering involves the study of chemical processes that help to convert chemicals or raw materials into useful products. Subdisciplines of chemical engineering include molecular, bio-molecular, material, process and corrosion engineering. Civil engineering entails infrastructural development with a speciality in structural, marine or environmental engineering.
Electrical engineering involves the study of electricity, electromagnetism and electronics. The subdisciplines include computer, electronic, optical and power engineering. Engineering industries use mechanical engineering to develop mechanical systems. The subdisciplines of mechanical engineering include energy, thermal, acoustic and manufacturing engineering.
