What are the dimensions of a bowling lane?

Regulation-sized bowling lanes, including equipment, must be 86 feet 6 inches long and 5 feet wide. Walkways and buffer space are usually added around the alley.
The distance from the foul line, where the ball is released, to the first pin is 60 feet. The length between the gutters is 41 inches. A 15-to-16-feet approach area before the foul line is required. Lanes are often built in pairs with seating behind the approach space. There is no regulation requirement for ceiling height; however, a ceiling of 10 feet or more is typical because many bowling alleys hang televisions above the lanes.
