What direction should you tape shin splints?

The proper way to tape shin splints is to start on the inside of the ankle where the bone is, wrap behind the Achilles tendon and then move the tape diagonally up and over the front of the ankle, according to Sportsinjuryclinic.net. This process should be repeated twice.
Applying tape is a common way to provide support and pain relief from shin splints. Do not apply tape too tightly, particularly around the Achilles tendon, advises Sportsinjuryclinic.net. At the same time, a little pressure across the front of the ankle may be more comfortable. Use 1-inch, nonstretch zinc-oxide tape. For best results, do not use an underwrap with the tape.
