Who discovered sulfur?

Antoine Lavosier convinced the scientific community that sulfur is an element in 1777. However, ancient people knew about sulfur. It is a component of many common minerals, and it is the tenth most common element in the entire universe.
Most sulfur produced today results as a byproduct of mining other minerals. Around 25 percent of the sulfur in use today comes from mineral extraction and petroleum refining.
Sulfur is brittle, odorless and pale yellow in color. Sulfur?s main use is in industry, where manufacturers use it to make sulfuric acid that is found in many products, including lead-acid batteries and fertilizers.
