Do most DMVs have special driving tests for seniors?
By Forinfos - 06/04/2025 - 0 comments
Most state DMVs have unique or restricted requirements for seniors looking to get or renew a drivers license. In most areas, only a vision test is required for seniors renewing their licenses, but some states also require a road test for older applicants.
As of 2015, five states disallow renewal of drivers licenses by mail after applicants reach a certain age. An additional 10 states require seniors to get a vision test before they are able to renew their drivers licences. Only Illinois and New Hampshire require a special road test for seniors before they can renew. In addition, the age at which new requirements go into effect varies from state to state.
