Don Drysdale died on July 3, 1993, of a heart attack. He was 56 years old. Drysdale was a Hall of Fame pitcher and a broadcaster for the Dodgers.
Don Drysdale enjoyed a very successful 14-year baseball career with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1956 to 1969. He pitched in five World Series and eight Major League All-Star games. In 1962 he was awarded the Cy Young Award. His career ended with a torn rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder. Drysdale later became an actor and a baseball broadcaster. He passed away hours before he was to provide the color commentary for the Dodgers-Expos game in Montreal, Canada.
