The medication should be taken by mouth as directed by a doctor. A person who experiences stomach upset, should take the medication with milk or food. Doxylamine should not be used for children under the age of six years unless otherwise advised by a doctor. The drug can be used to treat conditions, such as hives, runny nose, itching and stuffy nose. A person who is allergic to the drug should talk to a doctor prior to using it.
