The side effects of doxylamine include dizziness, drowsiness and thickening of mucus, notes Drugs.com. In some cases, severe reactions to the medication occur and require immediate medical attention. Some severe symptoms are convulsions, fast heart rate and hallucinations. An allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, and swelling of the face, tongue and throat.
