Dragon fish are carnivorous and have a large diet that includes crustaceans, especially shrimp, and at least 50 different species of fish. Dragon fish employ their pectoral fins for securing their food sources.
Dragon fish are also known by other names, such as the lionfish and scorpion fish. These fish live in virtually all warm oceanic environments, but they originated in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. Being a venomous species, these fish administer toxin using their dorsal fins. Dragon fish live, on average, about 15 years in the wild. The dragon fish can grow up to 15 inches in length and can weigh more than 2 1/2 pounds.
