Dunlop tires are made by the Goodrich Tire & Rubber Company, which owns the Dunlop brand. In addition to high-performance car tires, Dunlop manufactures tires for commercial vehicles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and competition go-carts. Dunlop also sponsors various racing events.

The Dunlop story began in Belfast, Ireland in 1888 when John Boyd Dunlop put canvas tires bonded with liquid rubber on his son's tricycle. Dunlop subsequently patented his tire. In 1889, cyclist Willie Hume won a number of racing events using Dunlop tires, and the success of Dunlop tires continued thereafter.

In 1922, Dunlop introduced the first tire made with steel rods and a canvas casing. It tripled the service life of tires then being manufactured.
