According to U.S. News Money, gas stoves made around 2007 should last approximately 15 years, but gas stoves made in the 1950s or 1960s are still functioning. Old gas stoves are more durable because the manufacturers spent more time and money on each appliance, making them with higher quality parts.
Old gas stoves were typically made with enamel, making them durable and visually appealing. Back in the 50s and 60s, all of gas stove parts were made in the United States and were therefore standardized and higher quality, as there were no incentives to make cheap and flimsy gas stoves.
