Interphase is divided into what three phases?

Interphase is divided into the G1, S and G2 stages. Interphase is the first phase of the process of mitosis in the cell cycle. During the three stages of interphase the cell prepares to divide and duplicate itself.
Each sub-stage of interphase allows the cell to grow larger and the DNA within the cell to synthesize itself to ready itself for duplication. After interphase, the cell can enter the remaining steps of mitosis. Prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase follow interphase. After telophase has been completed, the result is two cells that are genetically identical. Each cell can re-enter interphase when ready to duplicate.
