What are some DVD/CD drive problems?

Some DVD/CD drive problems include the inability to play a disc, the inability to "burn" media to a disc and an inaccessible or disconnected drive. Microsoft Fix It is a web-based program designed to detect issues with the CD/DVD drive. However, Windows 10 does not support it, as of 2015.

Problems with a CD/DVD drive may occur after software changes are made, so make sure the driver is enabled by clicking Start, Computer, right-clicking the DVD drive and then clicking Properties. Next, click on the Hardware tab, select the DVD drive and under Device Properties, click Properties. Then click the Driver tab, select Enable, and click OK.
