What is dynamic stretching?

By Forinfos - 17/02/2025 - 0 comments

Dynamic stretching is a warm-up activity which includes continuous controlled movement. Dynamic stretches include seated chair twists with alternating sides, seated forward-and-backward shoulder rolls, standing back bends, and walking knee lifts. Dynamic stretching contrasts with static stretching, which holds a static position for 30 seconds or more.

With slow and deliberate movements, dynamic stretching limbers up muscles, increases flexibility and raises the heart rate slightly. During dynamic stretching, several muscles are used at once, so it prepares the body for athletic activities. The benefits associated with dynamic stretching include increased blood flow and range of motion, awareness of joint position and improved athletic performance.
