An E26 light bulb refers to any bulb with a medium-sized base. In the United States, medium indicates that the base of the bulb is 1 inch in diameter. Other terms used to reference a medium base include standard and Edison.
Additional light bulb bases include E10, or mini base, E11, or miniature candelabra, E12, or candelabra, E14, or European base, E17, or intermediate base, and E39, or mogul base. The number following E indicates the diameter in millimeters.
Light bulbs are further identified by numbers indicating wattage and voltage and a letter that indicates the shape of the bulb. For example, A represents a regular-shaped bulb.
