What is an E85 fuel station?

By Forinfos - 11/02/2025 - 0 comments

An E85 fuel station distributes ethanol-blended gasoline, an alternative fuel source. As of April 2015, E85 fuel stations are available in 929 cities covering 41 states and Washington, D.C. Websites such as e85Locator.net help vehicle owners locate E85 stations.

The original ethanol blended gasoline, sold as E10, is made up of 90 percent unleaded gas and 10 percent plant-based ethanol. E85 is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded gas. In some states, stations have blender pumps that allow customers to choose different blends, such as E20, E30 and E40. Higher-percentage blends such as E85 are for use in Flex-Fuel compatible vehicles only.
