What eats ticks?

Some animals that eat ticks include guinea hens, chickens and wild turkeys. Of these, the guinea hen is the most effective animal for controlling tick populations. Guinea hens eat any insect they come across and especially prefer insects that are visible on the ground or on plant leaves.
Guinea hens are also known to eat weed seeds and snakes. Chickens are not quite as effective with dissipating tick populations as guinea hens because chickens do not patrol the ground as thoroughly. Chickens also tend to do more damage to the ground and landscaping because they like to scratch the surface. Wild turkeys are known to consume up to 200 ticks a day according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
