The education requirement to become a graphic artist is to have a bachelor's degree in graphic design or a closely related field. Even if an individual has a education in a different field, he can complete training in graphic design to become a viable candidate for graphic artist positions.
It's best that bachelor's degrees are earned at schools that have been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, which has approved about 300 postsecondary colleges, universities and independent schools, as of 2015. Program curriculum often covers printing techniques, commercial graphics production and website design. Gaining an education in writing can also prove useful to graphic artists.
