What is an effective snake repellent?

A mixture of mothballs and cat litter makes an effective snake repellent. Generally, mothballs and cat litter are combined and sprinkled in areas that are prone to snakes. For example, the mixture can be applied around the perimeter of a lawn to create a barrier.
While mothballs can help repel snakes, they may not be the best option for pet owners or those with small children, as they are toxic. Essential oils, such as cinnamon oil and clove oil, can be mixed with water and sprayed in snake-prone areas to help repel them. Cotton balls can also be soaked in essential oils and placed in areas around the property as a repellent.
