What is an electric soup kettle?

An electric soup kettle is a pot that keeps soup, or any other liquid, warm by the means of electricity. Electric soup kettles are commonly used in restaurants and hotels to keep large amounts of soup hot for hours.

Electric soup kettles are normally made of stainless steel and have a heating element that is enclosed to prevent accidental burns to the user during manipulation.

Most modern electric soup kettles feature a thermostat that activates as soon as the soup reaches boiling temperature. Once the thermostat activates, the kettle turns itself off, and once the liquid's temperature lowers down to a certain point, the thermostat deactivates, and the kettle turns itself back on.
