What is an electrical permit?
By Forinfos - 09/01/2026 - 0 comments
An electrical permit authorizes certain types of electrical work to be done on buildings. It is a vital portion of any major electrical work performed on a structure.
Major electrical work done without an electrical permit in hand can lead to fines, a disconnection of electrical power from the structure and the prevention of building owners from obtaining insurance. In general, only contractors need to obtain electrical permits, as basic electrical work performed by a homeowner does not typically require a permit. In any situation involving electrical work, though, a thorough search through state laws is advised to ensure that any work performed does not violate code.
