Do all elementary schools follow the same menu?

Elementary schools have different menus because local school authorities decide the exact foods and meals served each day. However, schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program must meet federal standards for meals.
The standards, as of 2015, mandate that 30 percent or less of a meal's calories come from fat, and no more than 10 percent of the calories can be from saturated fat. Moreover, the food must contain one-third of daily allocations for protein, vitamins A and C, calcium, iron and calories. A program named Team Nutrition helps food service personnel in schools follow guidelines for creating those meals. The focus is on making food more healthy.
