What is the EPPICard by MasterCard?

The EPPICard Mastercard is a payment system some states use to make payments to individuals, according to the EPPICard website. Payments that states often put on EPPICards include state-collected child support payments, unemployment benefits and foster care payments.

Not all EPPICards are Mastercards; some are Visa branded, but they all work the same. Recipients can use them anywhere regular Mastercard is accepted. Payments occur via direct deposit, so the cards are easy to use for both the recipient and the state. Recipients can use the cards to get cash out of an ATM or ask for cash back when they make a point-of-sale purchase to avoid ATM fees, according to EPPICard.
