What is eucalyptus?

Eucalyptus is one of three different kinds of trees (Eucalyptus, Corymbia and Angophora) that are often called eucalypts or gum trees. They are native to Australia and parts of Southeast Asia. Eucalyptus oil is especially useful because of its medicinal, cosmetic and sanitary uses.

Eucalyptus oil is a natural insecticide and is thus used to combat the spread of diseases carried by insects. It is sometimes used as a perfume oil because of its sharp and instantly recognizable odor. Eucalyptus oil is commonly found in household cleaners due to its purifying capabilities. Eucalypts are also grown for their wood, as they grow and propagate very quickly.
