A EURO STOXX 50 index chart represents a measurement of blue-chip stocks, comprised of 50 of the largest and most liquid securities in the Eurozone. An overview of the index, along with its components, is available on the official Stoxx.com website.
The index was designed by STOXX, which is an index provider owned jointly by Deutsche Borse Group and SIX Group, according to STOXX. It was introduced on Feb. 26 1998. As a representation of the most liquid Eurozone stock, it is frequently referenced in benchmarking, and used as underlyings for financial products. Its relatively fast entry and exit rules, combined with selected methodology, are designed to ensure an up-to-date composition.
