A eurotop mattress is a mattress with an extra layer of padding sewn onto the top of it. A pillowtop mattress also has an extra layer of padding, but a gap exists between the mattress and the pillowtop's padding.

This padding retains its shape well and is normally similar in thickness to a traditional firm mattress. This means that standard sheets fit the eurotop mattress, whereas larger sheets are sometimes required for the pillowtop due to the gap between the mattress and the extra padding.
