An example of a romantic Hindi shayari is "“Aap humein bhool jaao humein koi ghum nahi, Aap humein bhool jaao humein koi ghum nahi, Jis din hum ne aap ko bhula diya, Samajh lijiyega is duniya mein hum nahi." The main character, Shahid Kapoor, quotes this in "Teri Meri Kahaani."

The shayari, or poem, means "If you forget me, I don't have a problem, If you forget me, I don't have a problem, The day I forget you, Understand that I'm no more in this world."

"Teri Meri Kahaani", which means "Our Story," is about "Javed" and "Aradhana," played by Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra respectively. "Javed" quotes romantic Hindi shayaris to impress "Aradhana" in the 1910 love story.
