What is an example of sentence tone?

The tone of a sentence is the way authors express their attitudes through their writing. Tone is expressed in the use of syntax, point of view, diction and level of formality in the writing. The tone of a sentence can be scared, depressing, threatening, humorous or any other feeling.
A sentence tone can also be formal or informal. Adjectives and adverbs are the primary words that writers use to convey the tone of a sentence, but the choice of verbs and nouns can be used as well. For example, the sentences "The sun came up" and "The first cheerful rays of sunlight peeked out over the hilltops" both describe a sunrise, but have very different tones.
