What are some examples of tribal names?

The Apache, Blackfoot, Cheyenne, Iroquois and Osage are a few recognizable Native American tribal names. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lists well over a hundred Native American tribal names with a high degree of specificity, such as the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
Many of the original tribal names have meaning and are more or less translatable into English. For example, the tribal name "Pascagoula" means "bread people." Some names may have several different possible translations. The name "Penobscot" means "people of the forks on the white rocks," "of the stone place" or "the descending ledge."
