What is an exhaust air jack?

An exhaust air jack is a utility jack that lifts a vehicle using its own exhaust gas to inflate an air bag placed beneath the vehicle. A hose connects the air bag and the vehicle's exhaust pipe and exhaust is slowly let into the airbag, lifting the vehicle.
Exhaust air jacks are used primarily in off-road vehicle recovery tasks and are able to lift vehicles stuck in snow, sand or mud. Air jacks are designed with a one way back valve to ensure no exhaust is let out of the airbag, ensuring it stays inflated after the engine is shut off, holding the vehicle up for hours if necessary.
